The Handpan Festival

The Sound-Sculpture Handpan Festival Grube Louise puts the focus on people. In addition to rousing and moving concerts, there will be plenty of space to join in, exchange ideas and meet people.

Those interested in handpan can try out the first notes for themselves in beginners courses and with a loaned instrument. Inspiring top artists invite you to marvel, dance and dream. But old handpan hands will also get their money's worth in masterclasses with the best coaches and artists in the world and plenty of space for exchange and jams.

Conclusion and goodbye

Location

The old ore mine Grube Louise was bought by Leander's family and a few friends in the 1980s and converted into a seminar center and meeting place with the help of several artists from all over Germany. The result is a work of art with a unique flair, surrounded by greenery, with rooms that radiate something very special. Plenty of space for workshops, concerts, jams, camping, video recordings in nature and hidden places to discover - the perfect place to switch off and completely immerse yourself in the world of sounds and encounters for the days of the festival.

FAQ

Do I have to be a handpan player to take part in the festival?

No, the festival is open to everyone. There are a variety of activities for beginners and advanced players and also lots of things you can do without a handpan. If you want to play yourself, book yourself onto a beginner's course.

What can I expect at the festival?
Do I have to buy tickets in advance?

Yes, it is not possible to buy tickets on site.

What types of tickets are available?

You can choose between the festival ticket (4 days) and the day ticket for Sunday. There are also extra camping tickets (not available for the day tickets!) for motorhomes and vans as well as workshop tickets.

Do you want to sell a ticket or are you looking for a ticket that is already sold out?

We have created a Google Drive document for you where you can get in touch. We assume no liability and do not moderate this document.

Are there stores nearby?

There are no stores in the village itself, but in “Horhausen”, 5 km away, you will find everything you need: supermarkets, pharmacy, chemist etc.

Can I bring my handpan with me?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your handpan. We have special areas where you can play and jam with others.

Can I rent a handpan on site?

In the ticket shop you can choose between two models for rental. The handpan will be sent to your home 30 days before the festival. You can then bring it to the festival and return or buy it there after the festival. Unfortunately it is not possible to rent a handpan on site.

Is there an age limit?

The festival is suitable for all ages. Children under the age of 14 have free admission if they are accompanied by an adult.

Will there be food and drinks on site?

Yes, two food trucks will take care of your physical well-being: Noah's Pizza and Kristian (pancakes and curries etc.). In the morning, we also offer Maxine Morast's “Perfect Porridge”, coffee and tea. There are also soft drinks and ice cream at our bar. Of course, you can also cater for yourself.

How can I take part in a workshop?

There are various offers. You can book some workshops in advance via our website, others are free of charge or on a donation basis and can be visited or reserved spontaneously on site.

Are there enough sanitary facilities?

Yes, as the Grube Louise is a seminar center, there are more than enough sanitary facilities (showers, washbasins, toilets) that are accessible 24 hours a day.

What accommodation options are there?

Camping together with a 4-day festival ticket with tent or camper (only with extra van ticket!) is possible on the grounds. Camping is not possible with the day ticket for Sunday.

Weather precautions: In extreme weather, we cannot guarantee that vehicles will be able to access the camping meadows. In extreme cases we will find alternative parking spaces, camping is always possible!

The rooms on the premises are reserved for artists and crew, please do not inquire at the seminar center!

Can I park my car right next to my tent?

Parking next to the tent is generally possible, but not guaranteed.
Whether we can let you directly onto the camping meadow depends mainly on the weather conditions and the number of vehicles. After prolonged periods of heavy rain, certain areas may not be accessible by car. In 2025, however, everyone who wanted to park next to their tent was able to do so - even after two weeks of continuous rain. In addition, we still had enough free space and are continuously extending the gravel paths in critical areas. Please try to form car pools and arrive with as few cars as possible. This increases the chance of everyone having enough space.

Our expectation: Parking at the tent should be possible for most people.

When can I arrive?

Arrival for overnight stays in a tent, van or camper is possible from Wednesday, 08.07.2026 from 16:00.

What travel options are there?

Let's try together to arrive in as few cars as possible (for the sake of the environment and the parking situation in the rain)! Travel by public transport is possible to the front door. Larger train stations nearby: Montabaur, Siegburg/Bonn and Neuwied. Try to connect via the carpooling center, then someone can certainly give you a lift. We have parking spaces on site, so please carpool for the reasons mentioned above. The link to the Handpan-Festival 2026 carpooling center can be found here:

Carpooling Handpan-Festival 2026
Is there a hands-on program for children?

Yes, a children's program is offered. In the ticket store there are various fee-based offers to choose from.

Access to the festival grounds (not to the children's program) is free for children under the age of 14 when accompanied by an adult.

What happens in bad weather?

In the event of bad weather, we can move to beautiful halls and indoor spaces. In the event of extreme weather conditions, we will inform you of any changes in good time.

How do I get a volunteer festival ticket?

Would you like to be part of the crew and take a look behind the scenes of our festival? Would you like to actively support the festival? Currently, all permanent volunteer areas (bar, kitchen, registration, garbage & site maintenance) are already fully staffed. We are currently only looking for volunteers for manual work or for dismantling. As a craft volunteer, you will help us on call with various physically demanding tasks, e.g. setting up and dismantling, transportation or minor repairs on the site.

What you get:

  • Free festival ticket for all days
  • Free camping/tent site
  • Brunch & dinner in the crew area

How you support us:

Arrival is on Wednesday afternoon, the official festival runs from Thursday evening to Sunday evening. You will help with the set-up and provide flexible support during the festival wherever manual help is needed.

Who we are looking for:

Reliable, resilient people who like to lend a hand and enjoy physical work. During the festival, this means that you are easy to reach by cell phone and can jump in spontaneously when help is needed.

Only free on Sunday?

In addition, we are still looking for helping hands for the dismantling from Sunday to Monday, who will receive a free Sunday day ticket and a tent or camping site in return.

Interested?
Then simply get in touch with Bella under: annabelle.schuelein@gmx.net and briefly tell us who you are and why you can imagine yourself in the craft sector.

We look forward to seeing you! 💛

Where can I find more information?

Consequence @soundsculpturehandpan and @leanderhandpan on Instagram for more information, current insights and to increase the anticipation!

We look forward to an unforgettable festival with you! 🎶
