The Handpan Festival
The Sound-Sculpture Handpan Festival Grube Louise puts the focus on people. In addition to rousing and moving concerts, there will be plenty of space to join in, exchange ideas and meet people.
Those interested in handpan can try out the first notes for themselves in taster courses and with a loaned instrument. Inspiring top artists invite you to marvel, dance and dream. But old handpan hands will also get their money’s worth in masterclasses with the best coaches and artists in the world and plenty of space for exchange and jams.

Conclusion and departure
Location
The old ore mine Grube Louise was bought by Leander’s family and a few friends in the 1980s and converted into a seminar center and meeting place with the help of several artists from all over Germany. The result is a work of art with a unique flair, surrounded by greenery, with rooms that radiate something very special. Plenty of space for workshops, concerts, jams, camping, video recordings in nature and hidden places to discover – the perfect place to switch off and completely immerse yourself in the world of sounds and encounters for the days of the festival.

FAQ
The Handpan Music Festival is an event dedicated to the unique music and culture surrounding the handpan instrument. It brings together handpan players, musicians and fans from all over the world to enjoy concerts, attend workshops, sing, dance and exchange ideas about the handpan music scene.
The Handpan Music Festival 2025 will take place from August 7-10, 2025 at the Grube Louise Seminar Center. The perfect place for it, if there is such a thing. Just look at the pictures!
No, the festival is open to everyone – both handpan players and music lovers who want to enjoy the sounds of the instrument. There are a variety of activities for beginners and advanced players as well as for those who simply want to enjoy the music. If you are also interested in playing yourself, book yourself onto a taster course and borrow your own handpan for the duration of the festival (and beyond). This way you can play directly with others. And where better to take your first steps with this instrument than at this festival?
Concerts: Both world stars and lesser-known acts will perform at different times of the day during the festival. Sometimes meditative to dream away, sometimes rousing and danceable. Sometimes solo, sometimes as a duet or small band, sometimes with vocals, sometimes purely instrumental. Spontaneous jams and surprising encounters with your favorite players are also planned.
Workshops: You can take part in workshops to improve your handpan skills or get to know the instrument.
Jam sessions: Here you can network and improvise with other musicians.
Exhibitions: The Soundsculpture Handpanshop will have various instruments available for testing and purchase.
Yes, it is recommended to buy tickets in advance. There are also early-bird discounts for earlier phases.
Day tickets: For access on a specific day.
Festival passes: For the entire duration of the festival, including selected workshops and events.
Camping ticket You need an extra ticket to stay overnight in a tent or camper on site. Access to sanitary facilities is included.
There are no stores in the village itself, but in “Horhausen”, 5 km away, you will find everything you need: large supermarkets, pharmacy, ice cream parlor, drugstore, pizza and kebab stores, etc.
Yes, visitors are welcome to bring their handpan. We have special areas where you can play your handpan and jam with other participants.
The festival is suitable for all ages. Children under the age of 14 have free admission if they are accompanied by an adult.
Yes, there are various food stalls, so there is something for everyone. There will also be drinks of all kinds, including non-alcoholic and alcoholic options.
The workshops can be booked in advance via our website. Some workshops may also be available on site, but early registration is recommended as they are often booked out quickly.
As the Grube Louise is a seminar center, there are more than enough sanitary facilities that are accessible 24 hours a day. This includes showers, washbasins and toilets.
There are many meadows and beautiful spots that are used for camping. It works a little better with tents than with buses. There is plenty of space for both. Please remember to buy a camping ticket. A few kilometers away there is the “Westerwaldtreff”, a hotel that can be booked separately.
There are also various accommodation options near the festival site, including hotels, hostels and campsites.
We have plenty of parking spaces on site. Depending on how busy it is, you may have to walk a few meters from the parking lot. Of course, the best way to get here would be by train:
The nearest train stations are Montabaur and Siegburg/Bonn. From there it is approx. 30 minutes by car. The bus connection to the seminar center is not particularly good. However, we have created a list where you can sign up for carpooling and write to other people to see if they can pick you up and drop you off at the station on the way:
You can also take the bus to Horhausen or directly to the Louise mine, but this will probably mean a longer journey.
The seminar center is the perfect place for children to let off steam. If there are enough children on site, there will probably also be childcare at certain times. Further information will follow.
There are beautiful halls and indoor spaces on site, so we can take the concerts indoors if the weather is bad. However, should extreme weather conditions occur, we will inform you of any changes in good time.
